Cookie Policy
Which cookies we use, what each type does and how to change your choice.
Cookie settings
Choose which cookies we can use. You can change this any time with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page.
Your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, so Analytics stays off unless you turn it on here.
Your choice is saved on this device for 6 months. Clearing your browser cookies resets it.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website saves in your browser. Similar tools, such as local storage and session storage, work the same way. In this policy we call all of them cookies.
2. The types we use
- Strictly necessary (always on): run the site, keep forms safe from spam and remember choices such as your cookie settings or that you closed a popup. These never track you across other sites.
- Analytics (off until you allow it): tell us how many people visit and which stories they read, so we can make the site better. We use Google Analytics for this.
- Marketing: we do not use marketing cookies. We do not use ad networks, advertising pixels or affiliate tracking scripts.
3. The cookies we use
| Name | Type | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| bd_consent | Strictly necessary | Remembers your cookie choices. Not set if your browser sends Global Privacy Control and you have not made a choice | 6 months |
| tbd_sub | Strictly necessary | Remembers that you signed up, so we stop showing the sign-up popup | 1 year |
| tbd_first_seen (local storage) | Strictly necessary | Remembers when the sign-up popup’s 10 second wait started, so the popup does not show right away. Written by our own script when you make a cookie choice on a page that has the popup, or on the next page that has it if you chose on a page without it. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control, it is written on your first page view that has the popup. Never written before then | Until you clear it |
| tbd_pop_dismissed (local storage) | Strictly necessary | Hides the sign-up popup after you close it | 7 days, then deleted on your next visit |
| tbd_pop_shown (session storage) | Strictly necessary | Shows the popup no more than once per visit (per browser tab) | Until you close the tab or browser |
| Breaking news dismissal (session storage, tbd_brk_ followed by the story ID) | Strictly necessary | Hides a breaking news bar you closed. Only used when we are showing a breaking news bar. | Until you close the tab or browser |
| bd_mode (local storage) | Strictly necessary | Remembers if you switched to the light reading mode | Until you clear it |
| _ga and _ga_ followed by our site ID (Google Analytics) | Analytics | Counts visits and tells visits apart | Up to 2 years |
4. Your choices
- On your first visit, choose Accept all, Reject all or Settings. Nothing except strictly necessary cookies runs before you choose.
- Change your mind any time with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page.
- If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. We do not sell or share it, and we also keep Analytics cookies off and do not show the cookie banner. You may still see the newsletter sign-up popup described below, which loads no tracking. You can choose to turn Analytics on yourself in Cookie settings.
- Newsletter sign-up popup: on some pages we may show a popup inviting you to join our newsletter. It can show only after you make a cookie choice, or on your first page view if your browser sends Global Privacy Control, and then only once at least 10 seconds have passed and you scroll halfway down the page or, on a computer, move your mouse to the top of the window. It shows no more than once per visit, not again for 7 days after you close it, and not again in that browser for 1 year after you sign up. It loads no tracking and uses only the strictly necessary items listed above.
- You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some parts of the site may not work as well if you block strictly necessary cookies.
5. Cookies on other sites
When you click a link to a store or brand, that site may set its own cookies, including affiliate cookies that tell the store we sent you. Those cookies are controlled by that site and its privacy policy, not by us.
6. Changes and contact
We update this policy when the cookies we use change. Questions? Use our contact form at https://billionairedaily.com/contact/. See our Privacy Policy for more on how we handle personal information.
