How we make money
The short version: we may earn from affiliate links and paid partnerships, and we label both. We do not run display ads.
Our labels
| Label | What it means |

| Paid link | We may earn a commission if you buy through this link. |
| Sponsored | A brand paid for this story. The story names the brand. |
| Partner feature | A story about a brand we have a paid or business relationship with. |
Paid links
Some links on this site may go to stores that pay us a commission if you buy. Links and buttons that earn us money are marked Paid link, and stories that contain them say so near the top. Using a paid link does not add a fee from us. Commissions do not decide what we write about or what we say.
Sponsored stories
A sponsored story is one a brand paid for. It is tagged Sponsored on the story card and at the top of the page, and the page says “This story is a paid partnership with” and names the brand. Paid guest posts are tagged the same way. Sponsors may check facts, but they never approve our editorial copy.
Partner features
Partner features are stories about brands we have a paid or business relationship with. They are tagged Partner feature on the story card and at the top of the page.
Free products and trips
We sometimes accept free products, loans or trips from brands. When we do, the story says so. It does not change what we cover or what we say.
Get featured
Brands can ask about a paid sponsored feature or guest post through our Work With Us page. Anything a brand pays for is tagged Sponsored and names the brand. Paying for a feature does not buy approval of our editorial copy. We do not use ad networks, advertising pixels or affiliate tracking scripts.
In our emails
Our newsletter uses the same labels. Paid content and paid links in emails are marked the same way they are on the site.
On social media, paid posts use the platform’s paid partnership label and say so in the caption.
Money and business
Stories in Money and Business are editorial only, not financial advice. We do not recommend specific investments or promise returns. Links to financial products are marked Paid link when we earn from them, and paid stories are tagged Sponsored. Talk to a licensed professional before you make decisions about your money.
Photos
Photos come from licensed sources or from the brands we feature, with their permission. Credits appear in captions where required. When a photo does not show the exact subject of the story, the caption says Illustrative image.
