An oceanfront estate in Laguna Beach, California, has sold for $82,569,990. Realtor.com reported the sale on October 16, 2026. The Real Deal, citing The Wall Street Journal, puts it at $82.6 million and calls it the second-highest home sale in Orange County history.

From $112 million to a deal

The house at 100 Rockledge Road went on the market on July 24, 2026, at $112 million. The sale closed on October 14, 82 days later, the New York Post reports. The final price was about 26 percent below the asking price.

The sellers were David and Holly Wilson. David Wilson founded the Wilson Automotive Group, a chain of car dealerships. The Real Deal reports the couple moved to Nevada full time in 2020. The buyer’s name has not been confirmed.

Jill Lockhart and Meital Taub of Livel Real Estate co-listed the home. Josh and Heather Altman of Douglas Elliman represented the buyer. Taub told Realtor.com the sale was:

“the highest sale ever in Orange County for a house listed on the MLS”

She added that one off-market sale in the county was higher. The Real Deal reports an Emerald Bay home sold for $110 million earlier this year, a county record.

The house

The estate sits on about one acre above the Pacific. The main house is about 14,400 square feet. It has eight bedrooms in total: six in the main house and two in a separate guest house.

Banker Boyd Jefferies and his wife Sharon commissioned the house in the 1970s. The architect was Fred Briggs, who designed many homes along this coast.

The Real Deal reports the Wilsons put about $3 million into steel and concrete work below ground. The goal was to protect the site from erosion and meet current building code.

What the buyer gets

The list of features is long. Highlights include:

  • more than 2,000 square feet of terraces facing the ocean, with a pool and spa
  • a primary suite with a rotating bed under a ceiling that opens to the sky
  • a library reached by a glass-floored spiral staircase
  • a private cinema, a wine cellar and a wellness area with a sauna
  • a tennis court, an outdoor amphitheater and an eight-car garage

Why it matters

Sales above $25 million aren’t rare in Orange County this year, The Real Deal notes. The listing agents told Realtor.com the buyer pool included people from Los Angeles and Northern California. Our read: even at a large discount to its first price, this sale shows there are buyers for rare coastal homes at the very top of the market.
